And so we slowly begin again

Our last few jobs were in the middle of March and involved the beginnings of wearing gloves and keeping our distance. One Chorleywood couple took themselves off to their conservatory before I entered the front of the house to hang two sets of curtains and they promised to be extra careful putting the ladder away, giving it a good spray of disinfectant! It was lovely to leave their home finished so that they could relax during lockdown and 2 months later they are still safe and well.

The other job in Chalfont St Giles was putting up a full pelmet in a large bay with 4 roller blinds. The customers stood in the garden while we worked in their garden room. This time our upholsterer worked closely with his girlfriend who has recently picked up extra upholstery skills, and I stood back pointing from the other side of the room!

With situations worsening, our main suppliers were forced to close and for two months we've been able to offer advice and samples but not a lot else. It's been a very strange time for everyone, but also a time to enjoy our homes, our gardens and our families and to get to know our neighbours and learn to appreciate things differently. Who knew that lockdown would fill our lives so completely!

Fortunately this week, our curtain and blind makers have re-opened, be it with a limited number of staff and therefore a slightly longer turnaround. We can start to put through the jobs that were measured before lockdown and begin to measure and fit where it is safe to do so. Our studio remains closed due to Missenden Abbey being part of the hospitality world. But we still have access to our fabric books and therefore, like many people around the world, we are happy to work from home, especially as it's a much more acceptable and normal thing to do. Long may the sound of bird song swamp the sound of the occasional car!

Now that we are open once more, feel free to make an enquiry by emailing us at info@kandhinterors.co.uk. We will decide with you whether a home visit is possible and will discuss safety measures with you before we come. Have a look around our website to see a few examples of what we do!
